Hi,

I'm a newbie in HL7 messages... I write an interface to produce HL7
message. I have a question about the MSH segment.
In the "message type" field (MSH-9), I have difficulties to understand
the meaning of the "message structure" component. For my interface, I
work with ADT messages only. I found some examples (ADT^A28^ADT_A05,
ADT^A47^ADT_A30 ...), but I don't understand what I can learn with
this...

Thanks for your help

Different trigger events can send messages in the same message structure.
For example the
ADT_A01 structure can be used in A01, A04, A08 events. It is like using the
same EventArgs class in different events in .Net programming.

For a list of mapping between message structures and trigger events, see HL7
Table 0354, chapter 2.17.3.
